DJ Khaled's 'Higher' Music Video Is A Tear-Jerking Tribute To Nipsey Hussle

Nipsey Hussle's final music video is here.

On Thursday (May 16), nearly two months after the late rapper and activist was gunned down outside his Los Angeles clothing store, DJ Khaled released their joint track and it's accompanying video, which honor's Nipsey's life and legacy.

The three-and-a-half minute clip begins with an "In Loving Memory" message to the late great, rapper before transitioning to Nipsey walking out of a blue home in an all-blue, silk set. Khaled then appears next to Nip, as John Legend sings in Nipsey's verse.

"My granny 88, she had my uncle and then/ A miscarriage back-to-back every year for like ten/ Pregnant with my moms, doctor told her it was slim/ Was bed rode for nine months, but gave birth in the end/ Pops turned 60, he proud what we done In one generation, he came from Africa young/ He said he met my moms at the Century Club Los Angeles love kinda of like Hussle and Boog," Nipsey raps, detailing his granny struggle's with infertility, and parent's love story.

"Mani turned ten, Kross turned two," he adds, referencing his daughter Emani and son Kross. "Startin' to see this life sh*t from a bird's view/ We the ones that made millions off the curb, fool In this rap sh*t ten, never made nerd moves."

Throughout the video, Nipsey is shown reminiscing on how far he's come as John fittingly sings "Oh, you keep taking me higher and higher."

"Lookin' back at my life make my heart race/ Dance with the devil and test our faith/ I was thinkin' chess moves but it was God's grace," Nip raps.

The music video ends with a moment of silence as Nipsey is shown in his Nipsey-blue fit one last time before a tribute that reads "Rest in Paradise Ermias 'Nipsey Hussle' Asghedom" appears on the screen.

Following the release of the video, John shared a touching message to Instagram, writing, "Proud to be a part of this inspiring record with @djkhaled and @nipseyhussle. We lost him too soon. The proceeds will go to his loved ones."

As previously reported, Khaled announced his plans to donate 100% of the proceeds from the track to the late rapper's children earlier this week. "Recently, I embarked on a soul-searching journey down a road I never thought I would travel in a million years. It began when a tragedy robbed the world of an enlightened soul, a brother, a father, a partner and my friend, Nipsey Hussle," Khaled wrote, before revealing that just days before Nipsey was murdered, "he shared his energy and positivity with me on a video set for a song called 'Higher.' After much prayer and reflection; and with the full blessing of the Asghedom family, I am sharing that moment with the world."

"The very title of the song reminds us that vibrating on a 'Higher' level was the essence of Nipsey's soul," Khaled's statement continued. "It is in this spirit, of moving forward, of preserving his mission that I, my co-writers, producers and label partner are donating 100% of all our proceeds from 'Higher' to Nipsey's children, Emani and Kross."
