Normani Pays Homage To Beyonce, Britney Spears & More In 'Motivation' Video

Normani did THAT!

There's no way to explain just how hard or how swift the 23-year-old singer snatched my non-existent wig with her new music video for her debut solo single "Motivation."

Normani takes us back to the 2000s by paying tribute to a number of the most celebrated female artists in the world, Beyonce, Britney Spears, and J. Lo.

The video begins with a young girl — who plays a young Normani — watching BET's 106 & Park in her living room. It then turns into a millennials fantasy as the young girl hears the hosts say, "Normani" has the "number one video in the world right now."

As little Normani proceeds to dance her little heart out, the video moves outside where the current Normani is giving Bey "Crazy In Love" vibes, rocking an outfit similar to the one worn by Beyonce in the iconic video, a cut off wife beater and low-rise jeans. After walking and twirling down the street, Normani's shown wearing a white crop top with 1996 spray-painted on it and a leg- and thigh-showing skirt. The outfit also warranted a scene change as Normani begins to dance and twerk baby twerk on the street.

The rising pop star then pays tribute to J.Lo and Ja Rule's "I'm Real" music video and dances in an outdoor gymnasium with a male dancer, reminiscent of the court scene from the 2001 video. After a few more dancing in the street scenes, Normani gives us the dancing rain scene of all dancing rain scenes —a definite shout out to Brit Brit's 2001 “Dream Within A Dream Tour” — in a crystal two-piece set, before concluding the sure-to-be classic video with a group dancing number.
