Tekashi 6in9ine Docuseries Heading To Showtime

Tekashi 6in9ine's story is heading to the small screen.

As per Deadline, Showtime Documentary Films ordered a limited docuseries titled SuperVillian, which will chronicle the life of the controversial rapper, who is scheduled to be sentenced on December 18 over federal racketeering and weapon charges. The three-part series will follow how Daniel Hernandez became the infamous Tekashi 6xi9ine that we’ve all read about in the news. The series follows a similar conception as Jennifer Lopez’s recent film, Hustlers, with its jump from print to film concept. SuperVillian was inspired by journalist Stephen Witt's Rolling Stone feature "Tekashi 6ix9ine: The Rise and Fall of a Hip Hop Supervillain."

"The bizarre and complicated rise of Tekashi 6ix9ine is a story of our times,” said Vinnie Malhotra, EVP, Nonfiction Programming, Showtime Networks. “Beyond becoming one of the most notorious hip hop artists of this generation, his story speaks volumes of the impact of social media and manufactured celebrity in our society. We’re excited to be partnering with such heavy hitters in the world of music and documentary to bring SuperVillain to life."

SuperVillian is not to be mistaken with 50 Cent’s docuseries on the rapper titled A Moment In Time, which is set for release in 2020. That project will follow the rapper’s rise and fall. That docuseries will roll out in six to eight hour-long episodes per story, which will also focus other stars like Snoop Dogg, Scott Storch and 50 himself.
