K. Michelle Samples New Edition on New Song "The Rain"

K. Michelle has given fans another taste of her upcoming new album All Monsters Are Human as she just released her new song "The Rain" — and it samples one of R&B's favorite groups: New Edition.

Produced by Jazze Pha, "The Rain" is a sultry song that samples New Edition's 1988 hit "Can You Stand The Rain." She sings on the new track, "Storms will come/ Make me over-flow (Make me over-flow)/ Can you stand the rain?/ When we get done/ I still want some more (I still want some more)/ Can you make it rain?."

Prior to releasing the song, K. Michelle shared on Instagram of the single, "My whole career I’ve never got to pick a single this will be my first time. I listen to y’all my Rebels, my heart, my ear, and how it makes me feel down in my soul." She finished by thanking everyone involved, and for allowing her to use the New Edition sample: "Thank you to the legends Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis for allowing me to use the sample from the original song from the legendary 'New Edition' such an honor. AND WAIT TILL YALL HEAR THIS ALBUM!!!!!"

A release date has not yet been set for All Monsters Are Human, but fans have also previously heard her last release, her collaboration with Kash Doll and City Girls called "Supahood." K. Michelle is also heading out on the road in November on her "Over Some D*** Tour," which kicks off in Grand Rapids, Michigan on November 11th, and stops in cities across the country including Chicago, New York, Atlanta, Dallas, Los Angeles, and more. The tour will rap up in Las Vegas at the Brooklyn Bowl on December 5th.
