Mack Maine Gifts Lil Wayne McLaren, Announces Original 'Carter 5' Release

Mack Maine showed Lil Wayne some early birthday love in the biggest way.

Tunechi, whose 38th birthday is just a week away, received a surprise present from his Young Money Entertainment partner in the form of a fancy new amethyst McLaren. Weezy took to Instagram to express his gratitude over his new whip, writing, “I luh ya brudda! I need that F1 driver outfit @ab had on!!”

The birthday surprises didn’t stop there, though. Maine also announced that the original version of Weezy’s 2018 album, Tha Carter V, is dropping this Friday (September 25).

“OG CV DROPPING 9/25,” reads a statement from the Young Money Entertainment Instagram. “In honor of THE GOATs birthday, @mackmaine4president dropped off two big gifts today — a new amethyst McLaren for @liltunechi AND the news of the OG CV dropping on 9/25. WHATS HARDER, LIFE OR MR. CARTER?!?!?”

As fans know, the NOLA legend’s OG cut of Tha Carter V experienced a lot of unprecedented changes and delays due to Weezy’s ongoing legal battle with Birdman regarding Cash Money Records-related contractual disputes. Originally plotted for 2014 release, the LP wouldn’t see the light of day until September 2018, after Wayne had been successfully released from Cash Money months before.

According to a 2019 report by HotNewHipHop, some 20 original songs from Tha Carter V had supposedly leaked, unveiling several unreleased tracks including “No Brainer,” “Scottie Pippen,” and “Life of Mr. Carter.” Now, with this new announcement, fans will finally be able to experience the record as Weezy initially intended.
