Roddy Ricch Closes Out iHeartRadio's 'Living Black!' Event

Roddy Ricch closed out iHeartRadio's first-ever Living Black! event with an unforgettable performance in the hills of Los Angeles!

In celebration of Black History Month, iHeartRadio created Living Black! to pay homage to the culture that sets the trends, creates the moments, and moves the world.

The inaugural event, which was hosted by Donnell Rawlings and produced by Rikki Hughes, aired on Saturday (February 20) and featured appearances from Mary J. Blige, Charlamagne Tha God, Matt Barnes, Andra Day, Big Boy, Killer Mike, DJ Envy, Angela Yee, Tamika Mallory, and Angie Martinez, to name a few. Living Black! additionally included performances from Kirk Franklin, 21 Savage, Jhené Aiko, and Roddy Ricch. iHeartRadio Living Black! can also be viewed via Venues on Oculus Quest to watch the show in VR through February 27th. For Roddy's set, the Los Angeles native, who was outfitted in a black-and-white letterman's jacket and cream pants, performed his mega-hit "High Fashion" with the L.A. skyline as his backdrop.

Like all the performances of the night, Roddy's set took place near a Black-owned business as he was only steps away from the famous Trap Kitchen food truck.

Ahead of the "The Box" rapper's set, Trap Kitchen owners RobertoNewsSmith and MalachiChef SpankJenkins spoke about their full-service, underground catering business, which, like its name suggests — trap stands for “take risks and prosper" — is booming with business.

"Trap Kitchen started out as a social media underground restaurant," News shared. "It has now turned into one of the biggest culinary brands in the world. We're spreading unity. I'm a blood. [Spank] is a crip and we're showing people that you can be from the other side of the tracks and still come together and make money and do something good."

Chef Spank added, "We're trying to change the narrative that the media puts out about bloods and crips or anybody that comes from urban cities or the ghetto. [We want them to know] that you can supersede what they say."

Throughout February, the iHeartRadio Living Black! month-long on-air celebration has highlighted Black artists, influencers and thought leaders on iHeartMedia stations nationwide, featuring important conversations that educate and inspire via custom tributes and audio vignettes from artists and listeners across the country. Today's biggest artists across all genres, including Pop, Country, Rock and more are honoring the impact and influence that Black people and Black culture has had on their own lives and community.

Additionally, iHeartMedia on-air personalities including The Breakfast Club – Charlamagne Tha God, Angela Yee and DJ Envy, Steve Harvey and Big Boy are honoring trailblazers, modern history makers and future change-makers of Black culture. Hundreds of iHeartMedia stations and shows invite listeners to call in, post and share their experiences and inspirations each week.
