Oswego County is under a state of emergency due to severe weather conditions caused by a lake effect storm. The county has been experiencing whiteout conditions, making travel hazardous. The Oswego County Sheriff's Office has issued a "No Unnecessary Travel" advisory, urging residents to stay home if possible. Those who must travel are advised to carry an emergency kit and a fully charged cell phone.

The storm has brought persistent high winds and unpredictable snow, leading to road closures and zero visibility in some areas. According to CNY Central, Oswego County Legislative Chairman James Weatherup stated that the ongoing snow has hindered efforts to clear roads. Local municipalities, including the City of Fulton and the Village of Mexico, have also declared snow emergencies, advising motorists not to travel.

The travel advisory, initially issued on February 14, has been extended, and vehicles parked on roads in affected towns may be towed. Residents are encouraged to use emergency snow lots for parking. The Oswego County Sheriff's Office emphasizes the importance of safety during these challenging weather conditions.
