Today is the first day of summer, and it certainly felt every bit of it. Temps got into the upper 90s but the way the humidity is in Chicago, it felt like it was close to triple digits.
What's crazy is that with all this heat many won't be able to hit that local pool because the city's 49 pools are closed due to a lifeguard shortage, this is according to the Chicago Park District. The pools were supposed to open this Friday, but that has been pushed back until July 5. Wow, can't even hit the pool on the holiday weekend? There's always a cold bath I guess.
On a more serious note, please check on the elderly, those with disabilities, children, pets and anyone who is vulnerable under extremely hot weather conditions. The city offers cooling centers through Chicago and Cook County.
